The Mimic Guide 2026
The Mimic guide for 2026: chapter walkthroughs, puzzle solutions, escape routes, and survival tips.
Updated July 2026 · Codes verified regularly
Getting Started
Play Chapter 1 first to learn the stamina system and safe-zone rules; unlike many horror games, standing still in a closet for too long can attract certain spirits, so use hiding spots only when a chase is already active. Keep your flashlight angled toward the floor to save battery and still spot hidden collectibles.
Read every note and wall drawing carefully, because The Mimic rarely uses glowing interactables for puzzle clues. If a door requires a code, the digits are usually split across multiple rooms, so backtrack with the door number in mind rather than guessing random combinations.
Advanced Tips
In the hospital chapter, carry at least one backup candle; the main ghost disables electric lights for long stretches, and a candle lets you read clue boards that are otherwise unreadable in the dark. Move between rooms quickly because the ghost patrols on a fixed loop you can memorize after one or two deaths.
For Nightmare difficulty, assign roles in a group run so one player leads the route, one watches for trap triggers, and one manages healing items. Never sprint into unknown corridors; many chase sequences are scripted to trigger at specific thresholds, and sprinting early leaves you exhausted when the real chase begins.

The Mimic FAQ
Is The Mimic a single-player or multiplayer horror game?
It supports both solo and cooperative play. Some chapters are easier with friends who can revive you, but solo runs offer a more intense experience.
How do I solve the lantern puzzles in Control's Book?
Pay attention to the color and placement of lanterns around the map. Match the pattern shown on the shrine or door to unlock the path forward.
What happens if the monster catches me?
In multiplayer, teammates can revive you at a shrine. In solo mode, getting caught restarts the chapter from the last checkpoint.
How do I unlock the next chapter?
Complete the current chapter's objectives and reach the exit. Some chapters require finding hidden keys or triggering events in the correct order.
